HIPOLITICS was a moment of inquiry—where politics met rhythm, and campaign trails crossed with the cadence of culture. Through this series, PaperTag explored the intersection of Hip Hop and governance, sitting down with political candidates to discuss the music’s influence on policy, activism, and the communities they sought to serve.

Beyond our mission to spotlight underground artists, we’ve always believed in the power of an informed audience. HIPOLITICS was our way of bridging that gap—reminding our readers that art and politics are deeply intertwined, that local elections shape the spaces where creativity thrives, and that Hip Hop itself has always been political.

This project featured interviews with candidates for local and state positions in Pennsylvania, offering a rare look at how they engaged with the culture that continues to move the world.
